We're excited to have a guest speaker, Carlos Salinas. He is a longtime member and former staffer of Amnesty USA who has held many positions in the organization, including Advocacy Director for Latin America and the Caribbean and Acting Director of Government Relations. He'll be speaking with us about his work he is doing to help the indigenous Kofan people of the Colombian Amazon in their struggle for survival. Colonists, the Texas Petroleum Company, and the Colombian government have taken much of their land, and have destroyed most of the natural resources that sustain their community. Mr. Salinas is helping them reclaim their land and resist the forces that threaten their livelihood.
