Need some extra motivation to get active? Why not join us for these casual Monday evenings on the Freedom Trail in Tallmadge. Adding regular exercise to your normal routine benefits your health, wellness and weight maintenance.
We are going to meet at the Lion’s Park Freedom Trail trailhead off Northeast Avenue for some good times on the trail. If you want to walk, walk. If you want to run, run. It is your choice. You are free to do your own thing at your own speed. We are just giving you an excuse and motivation to get out of the house.
Why this location? This beautiful trail is VERY flat and shaded. It offers something for everyone. It passes through woods as it heads to Middlebury Road in Kent with only a single road crossing at Howe Avenue. You can walk a short distance or run up to 6 miles without the heavy crowds on the Towpath.
You can do a 5K!!!
The thing you may not know is that you do not have to run. You can walk many 5Ks. This Monday evening meetup is the perfect place to prepare you for a 3.1-mile run or walk.
We are starting these meetups in mid February to help our members prepare for one of the easiest 5Ks in the area. Kent State hosts the Black Squirrel 5k in mid April (April 12). This is the perfect 5K for everyone. It is low pressure and at the same time high energy. You see people of all abilities and even walkers on this 5K. It is an excellent confidence builder to get you moving in a 5K.
All are welcome!
You definitely do not need to be training for a 5K to join us on a Monday evening. You do not need to be training for the Black Squirrel. You just need to want to be a healthier person.
Friends and families are welcome to join us at these meetups. They just need to be supportive and open to having fun with a great group of people.
We will host these Monday meetups through April. Your participation and input will drive where it will go from that point forward.
We hope to see you on the trail on Monday Evening.
