I'm back from my travels and ready to make something cool. After going to a Rails conference in Pittsburgh, it dawned on my that there is no open source solution for conferences to quickly make a mobile app. Then I thought, why don't we create THE staple, open source conference app as a group!
I got the idea from Jonathan Penn's app that he made for Code Mash (https://github.com/jonathanpenn/icodemashschedule) so I talked to him about it and he loved the idea of collaboratively building the next version of the app.
I'd like to get together as a group and define what our requirements for the project are, break down the application into different technologies, then map out future meetings that focus on the topic (offline storage, architecting js apps, etc) and then we can start to work on implementing that part of the application.
I need to coordinate a bit to get a venue and time for this first event, but if you're interested go ahead and sign up. Feel free to leave your thoughts about the idea as well including the best way to pull it off as a group.
