Chimney Mountain hike & vegan potluck

Sunday is supposed to be mostly sunny, so it should be a good day to hike Chimney Mountain, which is near Indian Lake in the Adirondacks. It is only a 760 vertical foot, 1 mile hike up to the summit, where there is a view in every direction. For more info., see .

While we could get there in 2 hours by taking the Northway, I thought
it would be nicer to take a more scenic route, i.e. Rt 30, and see a
waterfall or two along the way, adding ~20 minutes more driving time.
The waterfalls should have good flow with all this rain we have been
getting lately!

So, I would like to leave Albany (Woodlake) at 9 am, and arrive at
Christine Falls around 10:30 and have a vegan potluck brunch there.
(While you can swim below the falls, you might find it is too cold
this time of year!) I recommend bringing a collapsible camping chair.

After that we can take a look at Whisky Brook Falls, since we will
pass by it as we drive up to Chimney Mountain.

We should get back to Albany by ~5pm. (If that is not early enough,
we could consider starting earlier or otherwise modifying the plan.)

We will meet in front of building #1. (Park in any uncovered space.)
If anyone wants to carpool from a location along the way, let me know.
Here is the route:

Everyone is responsible for bringing a vegan dish to share and serving
utensil(s), and your own plate, bowl, utensils and cup/mug,
beverage(s)/water and other gear, and for sharing transportation costs
(e.g., fuels, tolls, parking fees).

Unfortunately, the weather prevented us from seeing the good view from the top. (Will have to do it again sometime!) But the very interesting rock formations at the top still made it a very worthwhile hike. Would have been nicer if more people had come. That would have improved the variety at the potluck, but the food we had was very good. On the way back we stopped at 4 Seasons for dinner, and that was a great way to end the trip!

Excellent hiking and great company with Richard. It would have been nicer to have a bigger group.

I will be joining and will like to carpool, if possible. I can drive or take ride.

This sounds like a wonderful outing! I can't attend because I have a date with my dad for Fathers Day.

I wish I could go! I highly recommended this trip! Chimney Mt is a beautiful hike, and definitely one of the more unique places to visit! also, it is not a strenuous hike, by any means! well worth it!
