This thread is a bit oldish.. But I'm long-time vegan and have been raw for over 2 years and teach people basics in classes.. I would def be interested in doing demonstrations for a meet-up for maybe donations.. :)

I am going to start making some of Dr. Neil Barnard's Vegan Recipes after the New Year. Where can I go to look up vegan and vegetarian restaurants in the Albany, NY Capital District Region?

sounds like this could be a fun event! I am new to this kind of food and it could be very helpful to me. I need to surround myself with like-minded people.

Hi, I am not very good at cooking and usually get by with raw food, but I would like to join the group since I am recently back in Albany.

Sounds like a good idea to have a "cook together" event. I would help out. The church kitchen sounds good. I am a regular attendant at the "Pine Bush Dinner," held at the Westminster Church. That's a vegetarian dinner, but they have a tasty tofu lasagna good for vegans.

Ditto on the weekend suggestions and depends on the date - also ditto on let's do this more than once! We could rotate houses maybe? (darn, I'll have to clean and organize....)

I love the idea... depending on the date/time and location, I will be there!

I'd love this to be on a regular basis....depending on how we all define regular ;-). Or, hey, if I get a buddy to cook together with from the experience, that works too :-). How cool is THAT to cook for a homeless shelter?! I've been on the receiving end of food banks after having fled my ex, and what you generally get (no complaints--the way it is) are canned and bagged starches...or sodium-laden packages of things that I couldn't eat and had to just give back... To give people *fresh, healthy food* would be incredible.

A good idea. Also depends on date for me. A weekend would be best for me too.

We could cook a meal for the Interfaith Partnership homeless shelter. "Meals – Groups are invited to provide and cook meals for our guests. Groups can utilize our kitchen to prepare the meals or they can use their own kitchen then bring the meals to us. "

Yes, but it depends on the date...

    December 28, 2012

  • libran

That's a good idea. However, it depends on when. I will be out of town from Jan 8-20, and then the semester starts (a weekend would be best for me).

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
