CARIBBEAN VEGAN BUFFET
With LIVE MUSIC!
Petersburgh, NY – May 18th, 2013
The Berkshire Vegan Network will host a Vegan Gathering
& Kirtan on Saturday, May 18, 2013, starting at 12:30 PM at
the Veteran’s Memorial Hall (Petersburgh Community Center),
71 Main St, Petersburgh, NY (located near the intersection of
Routes 2 & 22). The event will consist of a catered Vegan
West Indian Caribbean-style late-lunch buffet, catered by the
“First Choice Caribbean Restaurant”, of Troy, NY, followed by
the “Devi Kirtan Band”, performing East Indian-style music.
There will be an admission of $21.00 per person, which will
include admission, hall rental, buffet & musical entertainment.
Everyone is invited!
Lunch will be served at 1:00 PM. To keeps costs at a minimum,
EVERYONE MUST BRING THEIR OWN PLATES, CUPS AND
UTENSILS (Thank-you!). There is a kitchen available for rinsing
your stuff afterwards. For extra comfort, you may wish to bring a
cushion to sit on for the music (there are tables and chairs there
The ever-popular First Choice Caribbean Restaurant is located in
Troy, NY, and will be preparing a special all-vegan Jamaican-Style
Caribbean Buffet for this event.
The menu is:
Fresh Organic Green Salad
Ital Stew – Fresh Potato, Carrot and Veggies Stewed with Coconut Milk and
Sweet Plantains (Ricky’s Signature Dish)
Calalloo - Stewed Caribbean Greens, “Traditional Style”
Caribbean-Style Veggie Chunks – Stewed and Spiced Savory-Style TVP with
Light Traditional Caribbean Seasonings
Caribbean-Style Creole Cabbage – Sautéed, and Mildly Spiced with Carrots
and Green Peppers
Traditional-Style Rice and Beans – Cooked in Coconut Milk, Onions and
Thyme in “Creole-Style”
Dessert – A Scrumptious Surprise
Note: The food is mildly-spiced, but will not be hot and spicy.
The Devi Kirtan Band is centered in Shaftbury, VT. DEVI means
"The Shining One," in Sanskrit. The members of this band seek to celebrate
the One Light that shines from each of us as we open our hearts. Their music
