Rock Creek Park is truly a gem and an oasis in our nation’s capital. It offers visitors an opportunity to reflect and soothe their spirits through the beauty of nature. Fresh air, majestic trees, wild animals (including coyotes, raccoons, owls, deer), and the ebb and flow of Rock Creek emanate the delicate aura of the forest.
We'll be walking/hiking for 4 miles (about 2 hours). We'll start out along the park's Valley Trail which follows a mainly wooded route along the Rock Creek stream valley. The trail is rated moderate. We'll only spend half the walk on the trail. The other half and return route of the walk will follow easy paths along the creek. There are restrooms at various points along the trail.
Directions and meeting location: You'll see the sign for the park at the corner of 16th + Kennedy Streets, NW. Proceed to follow Kennedy Street (The sign will say Morrow Street) to the far side of the William H.G. FitzGerald Tennis Center. We'll meet in the parking lot in front of the tennis center under the Serve Monument (you'll know it when you see it).
If in case you can't find our meeting place, running late, or need a ride (the location is not Metro accessible), please call me at (301) 712-5880. Don't forget to bring water.
See you there!
Albert
