Hey Super Troopers!!!
Since our walk will take place on March 17, I'd like to wish all our Irish friends a Happy St. Patrick's Day! Btw, to all the pretty girls in the group, don't forget to kiss me...I'm Irish!! And to all the rest of you troopers: May good luck be with you wherever you go, and may your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow.
With its golf course, volleyball courts, picnic areas, and playgrounds, Burke Lake Park has a lot to offer kids of all ages. But no matter what activity you choose, you'll be surrounded by the natural beauty of it all, which revolves around a 218-acre lake. And like my heart, the lake is clean and pure.
This loop walk will last about 1.5-hrs (4.7 miles of smiles). The flat trail is comprosed of dirt and hard pavement. --It's just a great trail for a late winter walk and one of my favorites!
How to get there: from I-495, take the Braddock Road West exit and travel approximatly 2 miles.Turn left onto Burke Lake Road (at Kings Park Shopping Center).Follow Burke Lake Road for 5 miles. Turn left onto Ox Road (Route 123 South). The golf course entrance is the first left off Ox Road (Route 123). The park entrance is the second left off Ox Road (Route 123).
Where to meet: once you enter the park and pass through the gate, go straight and follow the signs to the marina. The road will dead-end into a large parking lot. We'll meet at the trail head, which is near the entrance of this parking lot.
What to bring: yourself, your furry friend, water, and cool sunglasses! There's no park entrance fee for non-Fairfax County residents this time of year (you're welcome!). Please remember, this is a kid-free zone, no one under 18 please. And as always, if you have questions, are lost, going to be late, or just wanna say hello, my number is (301) 712-5880.
Hope you'll come to the dance!
