Hey Super Troopers!!!
Since our walk falls on Easter Sunday, as your favorite organizer I'd like to take the time to remind everyone to please don't forget to enjoy those Peeps..yes, those sugar-coated, brightly-colored, exceedingly delightful, and extremely delicious marshmallow candies!!! My siblings and I used to eat a ton of those when were kids. Oh to be 6 again!
The Accotink Stream Valley Trail is component of the Cross County Trail, which stretches across Fairfax County from south to north. We’ll follow the stream as it leaves behind the restraint of the Lake Accotink dam and winds its way through a wooded valley to the Potomac River.
As usual, this will be a 2-hr walk (5.5 miles of smiles). The trail is flat with an aphalt surface for our entire stretch, with a fairweather crossing. We’ll pick up the trail around Mile 28.5 and head south towards Mile 31 and then retrace our steps.
How to get there: LakeAccotink is reached from I-95 by taking Old Keene Mill Rd. west to right on Hanover Ave. Turn left on Highland Ave. and then right on Accotink Park Rd. Watch for the entrance on the left. If you are coming from Franconia Rd., note that Franconia Rd. becomes Old Keene Mill Rd. in Springfield. We’ll meet in the parking lot.
What to bring: yourself, your furry friend, water, comfy shoes, and cool sunglasses. Please remember for legal purposes, this is a kid-free zone, no one under 18 please. As always, if you have questions, going to be late, or just want to say hello, my number is (301) 712-5880.
Hope you'll come to the dance!
