Hey Super Troopers!!!
This is a public service announcement on behalf of our friends at the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC). The folks at the ATC asked me to post this...and who am I to say no. It's a go-on-your-own/up-to-you-what-you-make-of-it event. I doubt I'll be able to make it (due to my laziness), but I do believe it's a worthy cause. And we've hiked on the AT before (the photo is from the Sky Meadows State Park section of the AT!).
The event will feature a rare opportunity to see the National Geographic film, America’s Wild Spaces: The Appalachian Trail, on the big screen. There will also be guest speakers, including hikers featured in the film and thru-hikers who have hiked the approximate 2,180 miles of the Trail from Georgia to Maine, raffles, giveaways and more. It's going to be a great event for the hiking community.
You can find more information about the event at appalachiantrail.org/discover
Each attendee will receive a year-long membership to the ATC, and anyone who uses the promo-code MEETUP will receive $5 off of their $30 ticket purchase. Every dollar raised will go directly towards maintaining and preserving the Appalachian Trail.
The event is located at the Avalon Theatre at 5612 Connecticut Ave. NW, Washington, DC.
