Hello Ladies and Gents,
Please remember this is a kid-free zone -- a group of adults for adults. The group’s events are based on the capabilities of our average adult participant with fun, as well as safety, in mind.
From a legal viewpoint and a broad understanding of our civil justice system, children, by reason of their age, do not possess the level of reasoning to protect themselves from the dangers of the trails. Therefore, having children on a hike would increase the potential for accidents/injuries and subsequent legal action against group organizers.
Aside from any potential legal liability, having children on the trail imposes an additional responsibility: adult supervision. The organizers' duties are to plan, organize and lead events. Providing the adult supervision to children is not within an organizer's scope of duties.
For the reasons above, it would not be exercising good judgment to allow children on the trail with us. Personally, I feel having kids on the trails with us kinda defeats the purpose of the group…
If you have questions, please send me a message.
