    I think that was a Mole Kingsnake, harmless: http://tinyurl.com/kgrzpvf The ducks were just across the stream from it, all east of the tunnel where Holmes Run flows under Van Dorn Street.

    Wow, interesting. I've never even heard of, much less seen, a Mole Kingsnake. (Of course, I'm no herpetologist.) Are they common in the area, do you know? You must've been quick on the draw with that camera. Our group seemed to be walking so fast the whole time, I had no idea anyone was snapping all these photos!
