Second Wednesday of the Month Euchre--only for the month of February

This is our regularly scheduled social euchre night. We usually start play around 7:15 pm and wrap up at 9:45 pm. I hold these at my house, which is metro accessible and has plenty of street parking when there isn't snow. For those new or haven't been in awhile, here is some basic information about our meetup:

1. If you are new to the game and don't know the rules, please do not sign-up on the website. Email me to let me know that you want to learn to play. We count on having 4 people who can play the game at a table. We absolutely love teaching the game, but we will go through the game, have you watch, and then coach you through. This means that I can't be at another table.

2. We have a number of casual games going on all night. We also play stick the dealer (ask if you don't know this variation).

3. We alternate every month on bringing food to keep it manageable. For this month, if the first letter of your first name starts with A-J, please bring a snack to share. Everyone brings a beverage that they want to share.

4. Euchre is a 4 person game--yes, I know there are 3 person variations, but most people prefer the 4 person game. What this means is that if you sign-up, we are counting on you to be there. If this month is like the previous months, we will have a wait list. Please be considerate and make your final decision as soon as possible. The deadline for RSVP is 2 days prior to the meet-up. Please update by that time, especially if you are going to cancel your RSVP. This allows me some time to try and fill out the tables. Of course, I understand that you may get sick on the day. We are happy to have you stay home if you get sick. Otherwise, come play. A good evening of food, drink, cards, and friendship may be all that you need to be more productive the next day. Thanks!!

5. If you have never been, we are a friendly group and welcome everyone to come. Very few people come with a friend or spouse. What this means is that it will not be awkward to arrive alone. It is better than a happy hour because it is easy to make conversation about cards. You don't have to even ask the dreaded "what do you do?" question. If you come three times, you are a regular.

6. Yes, the meetups are at someone's house. Please do remember that people live there and want to have a nice place to live. We always appreciate people helping to restore order at the end of the night.

6. There are some costs associated with meetup--I have to pay Meetup every 6 months for listing on their website. They don't work off of advertising fees. We pass the bowl around and ask people to throw a $1 in each time they come.

Yes, great time. 'Maybe the best one for me. I find that if I walk into Chritine's in a good frame-of-mind, I'll leave feeling even better. No matter what the luck-of-the-draw. Where's my drink, Gary? Where's my damned last place tournament trophy? lol

I have a card table and no chairs, any one with chairs? Guido?

    February 6, 2013

  • Christine

Any additional card tables and chairs out there? One way to get yourself off the wait list is to volunteer to bring tables and chairs.... So far, I have Gary, Jeff/ Courtney, Mary Lou, and Sheryl. Any others?

Last call on newbies! If you have not indicated to me that you are new to the game, please do so. I have ten people thus far if we have more players from the wait list..... The new players and one table of regulars will be in the basement. It will make it easy to hear what is going on since it is carpeted...... If anyone else has a table and chairs, please let me know. We will have a record number of players this month.....

I have 2 beginner tables this month. If you are a beginner and I don't know it, you may have to watch. Please mark your RSVP accordingly. I will pull people manually from the waitlist to fill these 2 tables. We should have you up to speed about halfway through the night.

    Last housekeeping items:
    1. If your first name starts with A-J, then you are up to bring food this month. Beverages are what you bring.
    2. If your birthday is in February and you want to celebrate, please let me know. No birthdays means no cake!
    3. I need tables (Gary, Mary Lou, and Courtney/Jeff). I already have Sheryl's from last month.

    January 23, 2013

  • Christine

We are full and then some for the meetup next month. If your plans change, please change your RSVP. I bumped the numbers again to 40 and we will still have a waitlist. No showing or cancelling with less than 2 days notice is not fair to people on the waitlist. Please update your RSVP as soon as you know that you can't come.

Hi Christine: Per your e-mail I think that this is the night for the newbies to attend. If so, I am looking forward to learning the game.

We can have 40 people for this meetup. If you are new (Dave's plus 1, Shelia's plus 1, Jim, and others who want to learn), we will be downstairs. We should have a table full if not more. Most people pick up the game in an evening.

I have bowling that night so it will just be James attending.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
