Have you been to Chinatown to eat before? What are your thoughts of Chinatown? If you've been, which restaurants have you been to and what are your favorite dishes?

Yes, I have eaten in Chinatown before, and once I organized a dim sum brunch for a group similar to MeetUp. I don't remember the names of the places I have been because I have not gone in awhile. Usually I stick with familiar dishes like General Tso's Chicken, Shrimp with Lobster sauce, or Sesame Chicken. I like going as part of a group, so I can try different things.

Is there a particular restaurant that you've been wanting to try in Chinatown but never have? Generally, what are your favorite foods?

No specific restaurant comes to mind for one I want to try. I love Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese and Indonesian (thanks to a visit to Amsterdam). I am lucky enough to have Vietnam Cafe (University City location) within walking distance of my apartment.

As we are looking for the adventurous and those willing to try anything once tell us what is the strangest thing you've ever ate.

Bone marrow, it was served with a burger at Ladder 15 while inventive chef David Ansill ran the kitchen. Also, Foie Gras...I know it is politically incorrect but so yummy...

Would you consider yourself a lover of Asian food? If so, what country's cuisine do you love the most and why?

Yes, I love Asian food. My favorite cuisine is Vietnamese, I love lemongrass, it is such a verastile ingredient. Also, I really fell in love with Indonesian food when I was in Amsterdam in 2003, unfortunately there are not a lot of places in Philadelphia that specialize in it. My favorite part is trying a bunch of small dishes as part of the "Rice Table". Very different flavors than most Asian cuisines.

What's the main reason you wish to join this group and what would you like to gain from this group that will make your time worth while?

Try different cuisines and restaurants with fellow adventuresome eaters. I really like to hear the personal stories of people, especially if they have lived in or traveled to the country of the cuisine we are trying.

Introduction

I am a long time resident of Philly who knows that Philly's cuisine is more than cheesesteaks and soft pretzels. I love to try new restaurants and cuisines and I am interested in meeting like minded people.
