Help Arlington: Party with a Purpose Happy Hour

As mentioned at our last Chapter Meeting...the Arlington Jaycees are doing their push to amp up their membership numbers. Arlington is asking Alexandria to help support this event by attending/participating with donations/ and help serve as Jaycee "recruiters" to tell perspective new members about your Jaycee experience and help sign them up to the Arlington chapter. This is a simliar project to what we do in Alexandria...most recently with the Alexandria Animal Welfare League.

The event will be held on Wednesday, March 20th at 6:00 - 8:00pm at Hard Times Cafe in Clarendon. (If you can't be there right at 6, that's fine! Just come!) The charity is A-SPAN which provides life-sustaining services for Arlington’s street homeless. We ask you to not only come to have a drink with us and meet your fellow Jaycees BUT to give back to those who have found themselves on "Hard Times".

Please consider bringing a donation to support A-SPAN’s efforts, their Wish List items include: Travel Size Toiletries, New Male Underwear, New Socks (all can be purchased inexpensively at the dollar store), Sleeping Bags (these can be purchased through A-SPAN’s TARGET Registry), or a Donation (cash/check).

Please wear a Jaycee shirt to distinguish yourself from the other bar patrons.

I ask that you RSVP through Arlington website to show support for the event. We know how we judge events by the number of people going and who is going, etc. So let's make the Arlington Meetup Site look good. You will probably have to join their site to RSVP, but afterwards can drop the Meetup if you'd like.

Thanks in advance for your help and support of the Jaycees and our Northern Virginia partners!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
