EXCLUSIVE Jaycees Brewery Tour

Take part in a unique opportunity for all Northern Virginia Jaycees chapters to learn about Alexandria history and partake in some local frosty brews. That’s right….did you know that Alexandria has a proud tradition of brewing beer for the region that dates back to the 19th century? For only $15, you can join the Northern Virginia Chapters in a private guided tour JUST FOR THE JAYCEES, topped off with a full tasting of all of their beers on tap with a souvenir tasting glass to keep. We’ve all taken a wine tour…but who has taken a brewery tour?!?

Just the facts:Thursday, April 11, 2013, we will take part in a special private tour, dedicated just for the NOVA Jaycees Chapters. We need a minimum of 10 participants for this event. But the more, the merrier. The fifteen dollars covers our exclusive Jaycees tour of the brewery, a souvenir tasting glass and a tasting of Port City’s finest. (We will not collect this money through PayPal...just pay on site!) Additional beverages may be purchased on site to be consumed in the comfort of your own home. And you get a chance to meet Jaycees from neighboring chapters!

The group will meet NO LATER THAN 6:30pm at the Brewery (located at 3950 Wheeler Ave., Alexandria, VA 22304) and the tour will begin at 7pm. A final headcount will be given to the brewery on Monday, April 8th, so RSVP TODAY!

Background: Founded in 1866, the Robert Portner Brewing Company operated in Alexandria for almost 50 years. It grew to become the largest brewery in the southern United States, and was Alexandria’s largest employer. The company thrived until 1915, when Prohibition came to Virginia, and the brewery went out of business. Now Port City Brewing Company is back and thriving at 3950 Wheeler Avenue in Alexandria. Be the first to know the inside scoop about a new popular local beer popping up in your favorite neighborhood pubs.  www.portcitybrewing.com
