rt on the Avenue (http://www.artontheav...
, October 2-3) is seeking at least 10 volunteers. In the past the Jaycees have formed a group and volunteered as a Chapter. If there is enough interest in we can definitely go together, so if you are interested in helping out please let me know. Below is information from our contact Chas Harris.
Volunteers are needed at the end of the day on Saturday.
The positions need are for Block Captains and the breakdown crew. The shift would be from 4PM to 7PM Saturday afternoon.
Block Captains monitor the block they are assigned to to and answer questions, hand out maps, occasionally empty trash and sometimes fill in for the vendors if they need a rest room break. Any of the problems are referred to headquarters (Mt Vernon Ave in front of St Elmos) so the job really just entails pointing folks in the right direction.
The breakdown crew makes sure that Mt. Vernon Avenue gets put back together after the event ends. The vendors need to pack up and leave in an orderly fashion and the police require that the street reopens at 7:30 PM.
