New Meetup: ID Competitions 101 (for NOVA Region)

Announcing a new Meetup for Alexandria Jaycees Meetup Group!

What: ID Competitions 101 (for NOVA Region)

When: Monday, October 18,[masked]:00 PM

Where: Bishop Ireton
201 Cambridge Rd
Alexandria, VA 22314

Are you new to the Jaycees?
Want to know what we are talking about when we say "Speak-Up", "Write-Up", "Jaycee Jeopardy"??
You've heard about competitions before but you are shy about competing?
Well, this is the event for you!

On Monday night, October 18, the Alexandria Jaycees will host an ID Competitions 101, where we will explain what the competitions are like and how to succeed at them! We'll have some sodas and snacks and we "prep" for the next VA Jaycee ID Competition, which will be at the VA Jaycee fall convention. This prep-session is for the NOVA Region Jaycees (Alexandria, Arlington and Downtown Jaycees), but other VA Jaycees are welcome to attend at a small fee of $5 (to help pay for copy materials and snacks.) This will be a low pressure, but high fun look at the ID Competitions.

NOTE: This will be held at Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, VA at 7pm. When arriving to the school, please park in the south parking lot, which is the largest parking lot at the school and it is the closest lot to Duke Street. Follow the signs to enter through one of the doors closest to the lot.

The Jaycee organization believes in the development of individuals by means of professional skills practice. Therefore, it developed a means of developing certain professional skills by means of healthy competition: ID (Individual Development) Competitions.

"Speak-Up" was developed to help Jaycee members improve their public speaking skills. "Write-Up" was developed to help members improve their professional writing skills. "Jaycee Jeopardy" is a contest that helps Jaycees develop and practice their organizational knowledge (helpful skills when seeking employment and trying to succeed in job interviews.) Jaycee "Debate" is another way to practice public-speaking skills, but also to help members develop and sharpen skills of persuasion.
