This will be my first group ride ever. I've never done the fullerton loop and I'm pretty sure my stamina is pretty low right now. If for some reason I can't keep the pace what is the policy on dropping during the ride?

    September 1, 2013

    • Nam D.

There is a short cut about halfway through if you need to bail

Steve here, new to the group, but have riden the fullerton loop several times. Most weekend riders are challenged by several of the hills, stopping at the top(if not walking up).

Can someone please explain and/or describe honestly what's the difference between a beginner and an advanced beginner? (And how will a rider know which they are?) Thanks in advance!

    August 29, 2013

    • Rob P.

      One's shorter

      August 31, 2013

  • RoGeR N.

IMO, a beginner is a person with low mileage on their bike and very little exposure to trails, your stamina (legs and breathing) isn't quite there yet to tackle rides at a steady pace, you'll probably need to stop every now and then to catch your breath. A beginner probably won't know how to handle tight corners, small drop offs, ruts, or how far to lean back going downhill (depending on grade) and how much pressure to apply to your front and rear brakes.

An advance beginner on the other hand has the stamina and the experience to handle all of the above.

Knowing your limits will help keep you safe... And riding with good people is always a plus!
