CHS Otaku Fest

This year the Cenntennial High School is holding their FIRST EVER Otaku Fest, which is based off the premise of an Anime Convention! Congrats to them for thinking BIG!

I figured we could support another local anime club that started off small and is now doing something big by attending and showing our support.

This event will be held at the Cenntennial High school in Ellicott City, MD. It's about a 90 minute drive from where we meet. I'll be giving rides to those who want to attend. If you would like to come and can offer a ride as well please state that in your comment so we can carpool. I'll be departing Springfield, VA at 11:00 am sharp! If you want to follow me you are more than welcome to. ^_^

They've got a lot of great stuff planned for the day including by not limited to:

Masquerade
AMV Contests
Super Art Fight
Asian Cusine

Videogaming Contests
-DDR
-Halo 3
-Super Smash Brothers Brawl
-Tekken/Soul Caliber
-Guitar Hero/Rock Band

Otaku Challenges
-Ramen Speed Eating Contest
-Hare Hare Yukai Damce Competition
-And more!

Dune: The Rock Opera

Dealers
Artists Alley
Cosplay Photo Area
Anime Screenings
Panels
Workshops

Registration fee has been reduced by $5! Pre-registration is now $10 before March 21st. and $15 after. At the door is now $17.

Please come support the local anime force, without the little guys like us and CHS spreading the word, Otaku around the world wouldn't be where we are! Check out their website for more details.

I will be going~! I don't think I will be going with the group, but with the size of the con, I have no doubt I'll run into a few of you. If you see a Maria (D.Gray-man) cosplayer, that'll be me. Those not familiar with the character, it's a big black ball gown, with long black gloves, a full face-mask, and a red butterfly across the eyes. I'll be hard to miss, and I am quite certain I'll be the only one.

This was an interesting setup. I was definitely impressed with CHS's effort to provide a diverse and fun Otaku Fest!

I really enjoyed the CHS Otaku Fest. It was such a terrific flashback hanging around inside a high school again; it reminded me of the old days. The Otaku Fest was groovy! I was reading in the manga library and even got to eat snacks there (that doesn't usually happen at other manga libraries)! It was fun watching AMVs at the video screening room (it was a nice selection, I hadn't seen any of them before). Plus, later on they showed Samurai Jack with special in-person audio commentary, it was fun to watch. Last but not least, I also had a great time hanging out & eating at Subways with the rest of the group; good times!
