Twin Oaks Communities Conference

If you live—or want to live—according to the ideals of sustainability, cooperation and equality, come to the annual Twin Oaks Intentional Communities Conference this summer for a celebration of communal lifestyles and resource-sharing!

From August 30th through September 2nd, 2013, network and learn about communities of all kinds — co-housing, co-ops, communes and ecovillages — at one of the best-known intentional communities in North America. At the conference, you can attend workshops on connectivity and non-violent communication, group decision-making and dynamics,  ecological responsibility and more. Camp in a beautiful forest alongside fellow participants and be a part of a temporary, once-in-a-lifetime intentional community.
Exchange ideas with major players in the Intentional Communities Movement by day and swap stories atfireside sharing circles by night. Swim. Play. Explore. The time to change your life is NOW!

Who we are: The Twin Oaks Community is an agrarian ecovillage of 100 people in rural central Virginia. Founded in 1967, the community’s members sharecommunal income and property, a labor credit system, and a self-sufficient economy. Tours will be available during the conference.
The conference issponsored by twodifferent inter-communityorganizations. The Fellowship for Intentional Community (FIC) is a loose organization of almost 100 communities in North America. The FIC publishes the Communities Directory and Communities Magazine (you can order them through Twin Oaks). The Federation of Egalitarian Communities (FEC) is a network of groups which hold their land, labor, and other resources in common and are committed to equality, participatory government, ecology, and non-violence.

Where we are: The Twin Oaks Community is located near Interstate 64, between Charlottesville and Richmond, VA, 100 miles southwest of Washington, DC. If you want to carpool, we will help match drivers and riders until a couple of days before the Conference.
