Thanks to all who came to the McKinstry Innovation Center yesterday to hear from some government reps on their energy issues.
Tim Stearns from WA Dept of Commerce Energy Office talked about their framework for policies, incentives and markets. He was a cool realist about the state's ability to help, noting it takes lots of work to use state resources that are quite limited.
Charlie Cuniff from City of Seattle Economic Development Office described City programs and encouraged members to take advantage of the wide variety of energy efficiency assistance programs.
Jessie Israel from King County Wastewater Division had great info on their new energy initiatives to recover brown grease from sources and the need for some new companies to turn that grease to fuel; and to recover waste heat from sewers. They are creating new business opportunities for entrepreneurs!
It will be a while before the new Governor sets his energy agenda. You can sound off on our discussion board to let your opinions known!
Also: Here is a call for volunteers to work with me to make this Meetup website more useful. How about a regular posting of RE job opportunities? Or new RE companies that get lauched? Or ads from screened RE companies and agencies? Let me know, see the discussion board on the website.
