Dear Seattle Renewable Energy Advocates,

We have been offered a lot of information on Climate Solutions as well as their research on the renewable energy industry, and ways to support the environmental bills. This email is for group members who are interested in joining the Green industry or join in on supporting the environmental bills with groups such as Climate Solutions.

As you know, we will have our next meeting on Feb 26, when Senior Advisor Ross MacFarlane from Climate Solutions will be talking to us about their group and their efforts in promoting the Cap & Invest Bill among other environmental legislative priorities; for information on these bills please refer to the Environmental Priorities Coalition Website. As of now, lobbyists are actively engaged in activities now in Olympia. If you feel this is a change you also feel strongly about and would like to support, there are some ways to engage yourself in promoting them:

1. Join Climate Solution's sign-on letter to support Washington's Cap and Invest legislation online.

2. Call your legislator and urge them to co-sponsor the Cap and Invest Bill. A flood of calls from people like you will make a real impact on their decision. The legislative hotline is open 8am -8pm at (800) 562-6000.

3. Write an op-ed or letter to the editor about the opportunities of clean-energy legislation for Washington's economy. If you are interested and would like guidance on submitting a letter to the editor or op-ed, contact Bonnie Frye Hemphill [address removed] or (206)[masked] x31

4. Join the Environmental Priorities Coalition Lobby Day 2009 on February 19th, 8:30 AM ? 6:00 PM at United Churches, Olympia. Join the state's leading conservation groups and hundreds of citizen lobbyists to push for the passage of the Priorities for a Healthy Washington legislative package. During Lobby Day your will hear from legislators that are championing the Environmental Priorities legislation, receive a training on how to lobby from top environmental lobbyists, and have a chance to meet face-to-face with your elected officials. Lobby Day is hosted by People for Puget Sound; to register, go to or contact Rein Attemann at [address removed] or (206) 382-7007.

Climate Solutions is a league of socially and environmentally reponsible business leaders who have been on the frontlines of promoting the Green industry for years. They have co-published (with Clean Edge) a report, "Carbon-free Prosperity", on the renewable energy industry in the northwest: including the advantages and barriers of the northwest, research on the top 5 clean tech opportunities and actions plans on how to achieve carbon free prosperity. For a complete report you can download the pdf file from

We are excited about this upcoming meeting, and hopefully we'll see you there!
