Hello All,

I am considering having foil Radiant Barrier installed in my attic. Has anyone in our Alternative Energy group installed or had this installed in their home? Can you share on your experience with the installation, cost and cost savings recognized? Attic temperature differential?

Thank you,
Sharon

Sharon, Check out this posting on Radiant barriers. Everyone has their own opinion, personally I would not ever use sprayed on barrier, I would only use foil barrier, but I have heard some people that say they are very happy with the results. hope the links in this posting help you with your choice.

If you go to MORE and then the FILES section you may find ore info on radiant barriers. There was a local company that made a foil barrier that had an R rating of over 14 and only 3/8" thick...

Here is a web site for what I feel is the best product on the market...

here is the home page for this company, it works better than most any pthers on the market...

Thank you Dave, I will investigate the links you sent.

If you know of someone who has installed the foil Radiant Barrier I would really like to to hear what they have witnessed as improvements. And how much they paid. I have had several AC companies recommend the foil, even though they do not install it. But I am not sure if they are recommending because it would then be easier for them to work in the attic or if it really has much of a return :)

I know this is an old post, but I just came across it. Yes, we have radiant foil barrier. We installed it on the attic floor, but not on the ceiling. I've noticed a slight difference. The house does appear to be a bit more comfortable. But the guy who installed our solar panels says that the spray is better because it blocks most of the heat from entering the attic. Cooler attic, cooler home. Makes sense. Our home is cooler, but the attic is still hot. I would do the spray if I had it to do over.

I was looking for feedback on spray vs foil and this video just gave me all the proof I need..
