Saturdays 9-1 and 1-5 til Nov 6. Work for Obama and the Democrats in Virginia.
President Obama and the Democrats are much more supportive of environmental issues, opposition to climate change and sustainable energy than Governor Rommey and the Republicans.
This meetup is not a non-profit, and can advocate politically.
I suggest that working for Obama and the Democrats would support environmental and energy issues.
Many things to help the environment can be done personally or in private groups. However, political action can also help, sometimes.
You can check www.BarackObama.com for ways to help, and information about President Obama and his actions and positions.
On Saturdays, 9am-1pm and 1pm-5pm, you can also go to 430 South Capitol Street SE, (which is the back of the building - the front door is 30 Ivy Street, about 2 blocks from the South Capitol Metro - blue and orange lines) on Saturdays from now to election day, November 6, for a ride to register voters and get out the vote in Virginia - which is a swing state -- meaning the result in Virginia could determine the result nationally. D.C. and Maryland are safe states for Obama.
Virginia could also be a swing state in the 2012 race for control of the U.S. Senate, with a tight race between former governors, Tim Kane, Democrat and George
Tim Kane supports lower carbon solutions for a cleaner environment. www.kaineforva.com/energy
George Allen favors fossil fuels, not the environment.
See also on rape and abortion for Allen (now supports a federal bill to ban all abortions, though sympathizes with rape victims and says he supports a rape exception.)
Much has been made, and condemned, of the statement by Todd Akin, Republican candidate for United States Senator in Missouri, saying that
doctors (unnamed doctors) told him that, when "legitimately raped", women's bodies have a way of not becoming pregnant. Mr. Akin later apologized. Mr. Akin said he meant "forcibly raped", which is the wording used by 2012 Republican Vice-Presidential candidate Paul Ryan and other Republicans. Mr. Akin also said he was misinformed that women's bodies could stop a pregnancy by a rapist-- though getting the correct information about women's bodies made no difference to his position on the issue. No Republican apologies have been made, though, for the even worse pro-rapist and pro-incest language of the official 2012 Republican party platform. Virginia Republican Governor McDonnell, who chaired the Republican Convention committee that wrote and approved the official anti-abortion plank of the GOP platform, which allows no exception for rape or incest, said the plank would not cost Romney and the Republican candidates any voters.
McDonell said, "We're a pro-life party. The Democrats are pro-choice.”
In fact, the official 2012 Republican platform is pro-choice, pro-choice for reproduction by men who commit rape and incest -- men who commit rape and incest have the freedom of choice of when and where and which woman victim to reproduce with by rape and incest, and the 2012 Republican pro-rapist-and-incest plank denies every woman victim of rape and incest the same reproduction freedom of choice as the rapist and incest perpetrator. In 2012, Republicans are pro-choice for men rapists, not women rapees; pro-choice for men incest perpetrators, not women incest victims. 2012 Republicans say that pregnancy is a choice, a hard and lonely choice that rapists and incest perpetrators have to make on their own. Women are only unwilling and
seldom mentioned carriers of the rapists' and incest perpetrators' children, with no choice and no rights. It would be a horrible sight, but consistent with this pro-rapist-choice 2012 GOP plank, to see Republican bumper stickers saying things like: "Raped? Sorry! 2012 Republicans support Reproduction Freedom of Choice for Rapists ". This 2012 Republican Party pro-rapist-started-life platform plank has answered the question posed by the old Tina Turner song, "What's Love Got To Do With It?" -- Nothing! So, rapists and supporters of rapists, and desperate men who cannot get dates, you know who to vote for and donate to in 2012 -- 2012 Republican candidates. Perhaps, Republicans and their official Party platform planks will become less pro-rapist and pro-incest by 2016, after losing many elections badly to Democrats in 2012.
Some say this pro-rapist-choice 2012 Republican Party platform plank is just for show. Show
Even worse, many states, about half the states in some form, permit rapists to obtain visitation rights and even custody of the child born of the choice to rape the woman of the rapist's choice. What's love got to do with it? Nothing.
