Welcome to the Narragansett Chapter Meetup site, sponsored by the Narragansett Chapter of the AMC. The Appalachian Mountain Club, founded in 1876, is America's oldest conservation and recreation organization. The Narragansett Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club is the local Rhode Island affiliate. Our Chapter was formed in 1921 and has about 2,500 members.

Our AMC Chapter offers outdoor activities which range from easy to technically challenging. Our Meetup groups will offer some of the easier activities so that beginners and inexperienced people can become acquainted with various outdoor activities. As Meetup members gain confidence, more advanced events may be offered. Meetup members may continue to attend the Meetup group events as long as they wish. There is no obligation to join the AMC by attending the various events offered by our Meetup site.  If you find you enjoy participating in the Meetup events, we hope you will consider joining the AMC.

Our events are led by qualified volunteers who recognize that hiking and other activities involve some risk. We are always concerned about safety and take measures to assure that any risk to participants is minimized. Participants must also be aware of any risk and take responsibility for their own safety.

When you receive notification of a new event, there is no need to RSVP that you are not attending.  If you have previously RSVP'd that you will attend, but find that you can  not, please RSVP that you will not attend.
