Following our highly enjoyable and well attended event last year, I am inviting you to a Thanksgiving Dinner on the day after the big day itself. The total cost per head is likely to be around £25, which includes soup, turkey dinner with the trimmings, dessert and coffee. There will be a cash bar for drinks and wine.

Please let me know as soon as possible whether you (and any guests you care to bring) may be able to join us.

The deadline for confirming your attendance by making full payment will be:
Friday, November 22nd. You should have received details about how to make payment if you RSVPed 'yes'.

I was interested to learn of this event that I knew nothing about at the Bunch of Grapes in Pontypridd. (Tafarn Criw o Rawnwin ). It appears to have been on for the entire weekend!!

Methinks Jon might just be tempted to move the whole shindig to Ponty next November.......................

I'd love to, but the Bunch of Grapes won't accept reservations for 8 or more without a deposit (per person).

Great people and great fun with a Thanksgiving Dinner that satisfied every American and non-American in the house! Thank you Jon for all the hard work arranging, organising and being such a great host to us tonight. Looking forward to the next event!!

Thanks to "top scorer" John Harris as well who risked life and limb cycling back and forth the roads dodging uncaring drivers of cars in Caerdydd to get the money over to Jon.

I scored some parts of the meal 2*, some 3*, and some 4*, but the company was all 5*

I didn't find you until 3:46am thanksgiving morning! Is it possible you've had a cancellation which would allow me to attend? If yes, I could bring my ££ along tomorrow night. What time and is this hall very near trainstation? d

What's the parking situation at Aberdare Hall? I've never been there and hoping it's easy to find parking in the dark.

I just paid! Can't wait to see everyone we already know, and meet all of the rest of you!!!

    Hi Jon

I have not yet paid for my meal next Friday. I expect you will need to let them know how many people are coming so they can order food.

Just thinking out loud as I'm just reading a rumour that anyone who has not paid is not guaranteed a meal. I'd hate to show up and find that all they can offer me is toast, that's my rumour by the way.

I will try to get a payment to you VERY soon.

Is the deadline Monday, same as last year? I can't remember if that's your deadline for ordering, or our deadline for paying, perhaps both?

    John

      Hi John,

      November 21, 2013

    • Jon E.

Just sent everyone an email clarifying that the deadline for payment is no later than Monday. Once I tell the venue the number of attendees, those meals must be paid for.

Please forgive me if this question has been asked in the past:

Are we able to bring our own bottle of wine to the dinner? (Perhaps with a small bottling fee?)

Is the final price 25 GBP per person? (In the notes above it is still 'to be confirmed')

Looking forward to seeing you all next week.

Yes, the total cost is £25. I thought I had changed the text, but it didn't save properly for some reason. No, bringing your own wine is not permitted. Their costs aren't too high though.

As a bonafide American, I can't wait for the festivities! The past T-Day events were amazing, and so well done! I'm looking forward to seeing familiar faces, and meeting some new folks as well!! (I'm the +1 on Peter's RSVP!)

The dining at Aberdare Hall is a unique experience, not to be missed along with great company and of course a traditional thanksgiving menu. We have been to two so far and each one has been great fun. It is sad that no enterprising restaurant in Cardiff seems to have thought it worthwhile. I found one place in North Wales that is holding one. See http://gouk.about.com/od/festivalsandevents/a/ThanksgivingUK.htm for an article about Thanksgiving in other parts of the UK. Having said that I think this is a great venue and hopefully annual meetup for the Group.
