Great event tonight everyone, and it was really nice to meet almost everyone, and have conversations with several of you I've not previously met ... Dawn, please don't worry ... I might have to refer you to my son the inveterate worrier.

Jon, this suggestion is for you - you might be able to get rid of the Meet in a reasonably quiet pub - it says needs a date and location .... by putting in any day in the next 7 days with a note to those not in the know that this is a fake event. Once the day has passed, it may auto clear/delete. I discovered that I am able, as a regular member to suggest both, but I don't know this will have the same result as when this is done by the Senior/Senor Organizer :) and I don't want to overstep my mandate.

Unless you choose the Outer Hebrides to meet up, but no issue with the Caerphilly proposal, although that may have been seasonally dependent too.

We often talk about a pub event, but never actually commit to this, instead we tend to default to an indoors Friday evening restaurant dinner, and since it's only once a month, I suppose that's to be expected, and now we are moving beyond best outdoors weather anyway, or if not, publicans may be moving their furniture indoors according to some pre-established ritual timing.

A Saturday fine by me, preferably somewhere convenient for public transport.

I would love to come but I live in Bath and it would be very difficult to travel on a work day. Would it be possible to meet on a Saturday?

There are not really quiet pubs in the centre of Cardiff as such or down the Bay. Not sure where everyone lives but outside of Cardiff there is the Discovery at Lakeside near Roath Park, The Heath pub near Heath Hospital and in the summer the lovely Ty Mawr in Lisvane with amazing views overlooking the city which is a Brains pub and does good food

I suppose it means what you mean by quiet and what time of day you are talking about. Even the Prince of Wales, the Wetherspoon hostelry near the Station, can be quiet at times!! Bar One in the Millennium Centre is a safe bet in a fairly central location.

Happy to meet in a quiet(ish) pub in the centre of Cardiff.

As I don't drive, Cardiff would suit me better. But will go along with the majority if possible.

How about the Globe in Porthcawl?

A reasonably quiet pub - The Packet? You must be joking. The Cottage? At times. Best pubs in centre of Cardiff are probably the City Arms, the Goat Major and the Rummer, but it depends on the time of day if they're quiet or not. For the Bay, Eli Jenkins is generally OK with good real ale, and Bar One in the Millennium Centre a delight for a bottle of wine and a snack. I'm up for this at a quiet(ish) location.

Funny you should mention Brecon,,, my ''father-in-law'' lives there and we've been taking regular road trips up to spend time with him,, i've driven that rout a dozen times and wandered round the village too,, but, somehow, scootin round Cardiff intimidates me,,,aww well, in time all good things come... thanks for the advice *
