Hi Heather,

I've rsvp'd yes for May 3rd. I didn't check my email in time for today.
Wetherspoons by the Market Square in Nottingham seems a convenient location. There's good public transport nearby and plenty of car parks in town. I haven't been inside but it looks like a good place to mingle and people could have a drink and/or a meal. Whatever venue is chosen, Rob and I will see you there.

Arlene xx

Subject: [american-237] Meet UP

Hi Everyone,
Welcome to all the new members!
Sorry for the delay in responding. It has been a rather chaotic month with too many weekend shifts, hubby ill and car broke down but now able to set up some meet ups. I was hoping to organize a meet up for Saturday the 26 March but didn't set it up in time but am available for a coffee, lunch and shopping if anyone happens to be available or in the city for the day to possibly meet up at Whetherspoons in city centre across from the lions and tram stop.
As for a proper meet up, I am open for suggestions for a venue for a meet up on 3rd May at 2 pm. A few suggestions are Newstead Abbey in Ravenshead (Lord Byrons home), really beautiful gardens, house and abbey. Maybe the Galleries of Justice in Nottingham? Any other suggestions would be welcome.
Also, just to give really advanced notice. I will be hosting another barbeque this summer. For those of you that missed it last year, you missed a fun afternoon with enough food to feed an army and really nice company. This year I will host it on 5th of July at my house. A proper 4th of July celebration. If you would like to bring a sample of your favorite American dish, this would provide a bit of variety. I will supply the rest....hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, potatoe and pasta salads, and drinks....etc...
Please RSVP and provide some suggestions for a venue for the 3rd of May meet up and hope to see you all there.
Just to let you know, Congrats to my daughter, Stephanie, who became a British citizen on 16 March. It took less than 3 mths for her to get her citizenship from the date of application. An incredible lack of bureaucratic red tape, which is surprising for government agencies.

Anyway, hope to see you all there,
Heather
