US Expat Tax Return Deadlines

From: user 3.

This is another tax season and we would like to remind American expats about upcoming deadlines.

As an American expat residing abroad, you get an automatic extension until June 15, 2012 to file US income tax return. However, any tax that is due for 2011 must be paid in full by Apr 17, 2012 to avoid any interest and penalty assessment.

Many of you heard about FBAR. The form TD F[masked] is due by June 30, 2012. This form is filed separately from your tax return. No extension is allowed for this form. FBAR must be filed if the aggregate value of financial accounts exceeds $10,000 at any time during the calendar year.

We post different tax articles for American expats on Facebook. We specialize in US tax preparation for Americans abroad. We are here to help you!
