Book Club

Hi All,

This is a meetup to discuss the Book: The Death of Vishnu by Manil Suri

As usual please feel free to read the book in any language but the discussion will be mostly in English.

There would be coffee, tea and cookies :) to enjoy while we discuss the book.

Really sorry, if a book you suggested hasn't appeared here as yet. Its only because I received a lot of suggestions and had to pick some for now so it'll come up later.

Please do keep mailing me your suggestions of books for future meetups.

Looking forward to see you there.

Vishnu, the odd-job man in a Bombay apartment block, lies dying on the staircase landing. Around him the lives of the apartment dwellers unfold: the warring housewives on the first floor, lovesick teenagers on the second, and the quietly grieving widower on the top floor of the building. In a fevered state Vishnu looks back on his love affair with the seductive Padmini and wonders if he might actually be the god Vishnu, guardian of the entire universe. Blending incisive comedy with Hindu mythology and a dash of Bollywood sparkle, The Death of Vishnu is an intimate and compelling view of an unforgettable world.

Please remember to bring your yellow card as you need it to enter the library after 6pm

Wish I could make it, but I have a parent-teacher meeting at my daughter's school at 7 pm. For the record, Thursdays are just as good as Wednesdays for me.

Thursday evenings (for me) are reserved for concerts at Koncerthuset. But the choice of book is interesting. I haven't read much contemporary Indian literature. just The God of Small Things. Any chance of changing the day to Monday or Tuesday?

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
