Hi folks,
Many of you may know that Jason headed back to the States, so I have stepped into being the organizer --- simply because no else had picked it up. Jennifer has also agreed to be an asst organizer as well. If we can get a few event organizers to step up, we can connect them up to use some of the Meetup tools on the site as well.

Everyone is keen on Facebook and that seems like a great effort to get going right away. Let's try to see what can be set up there by those who have said they'd get it going. Hopefully someone has the time to play with it - but I confess that keeping up my own Facebook page is challenging enough for now.

As soon as that is live, we can see how well the group can be serviced that way. Also, many social orgs have both Meetup and Facebook running as that seems to serve them well.

It seems that there are lots of ideas around for social events. Once the school holidays are over, maybe we can all get together and see what threads there are that we all have in common. Maybe there are even sub-groups who want to do special interest things as well. In the meantime, lots of activity seems to be getting going and no doubt small groups will do their own thing. If anyone wants help announcing their event, please let me know and I will put it up on the site.

The wonderful thing about the US Expat thing is that it is real reason to connect - and of course there are many types of expats here in NZ. Long in tooth folks like me - and just got off the plane folks too.

Thanks for keeping this going - although I am a Kiwi - I am still an American - so this forum is valuable to me and I hope that it is for you too. If so, put your hand up and get involved.

Kind regards,
