Want to organize your own games?

  • Needs a date

  • Needs a location

  • Because Renato's group and my group have little or no room for new players while there do seem to be a lot of others who want to play I suggest that somebody new start organizing games / a new group. It's not that difficult and you can find all the information you need in the comments below.

Recently moved to Amsterdam, want to join a regular 5/6 a-side mid-week game (mon to thurs preferably). Does anyone have a weekly team up and running that needs a new player? Just looking for a kick around, but am happy to play in a league also

Hi, Im interested in playing regularly on a week day, inddor or outdoor football. Just let me know if you start a new team or if there is a spot available in a team

and just to be sure, there are plenty of people who want to play football in Amsterdam (I have to decline requests from several prospective players a week in the group I organize), so you won't have any problems finding enough people.

an update: the hardest thing about starting a new group or of getting enough (but not too many) players to show up when you organize games is that there will always be some people who will not show up (or show up late) so that you don't have as many players as you would have liked. The result is that you may not be able to play a nice game or that the per person cost becomes much higher than expected. What may be the best solution for this (other than having a group whose members you already more or less know and trust) is to make people pay for the games beforehand, through PayPal or MeetUp's payment system. This makes it less likely that people won't show up (after all, they'll already have paid for it). Alternatively you can start a new group and be very strict in the sense that you have a rule that says that if somebody signs up for a game but then doesn't show up (or if they do this twice), they are kicked out of the group.

suggested meetup 'Saturday Indoor Football at 5 PM'

Registered shortly after last reply and already activated, nice! Checking a few sporthallen and wondering which are good. What is the difference between "Van Hogendorp 2 (inloop)" and "Van Hogendorp 1"?

    March 2, 2012

  • German D.

They activate the account on the spot once you email a copy of your passport.

    March 2, 2012

  • Dennis B.

Nice to know how it works, thanks Koen. Will register myself to be able to book sporthallen in future.
As it will take some time until they approve my account:
Is somebody already registered and can check if any sporthallen are free for another weekend game?

    March 2, 2012

  • Koen S.

finally, they will send you one invoice per month (at the end of the month) with all the hours you reserved for that previous month. (so you pay once per month rather than before or after every game)

    March 1, 2012

  • Koen S.

I think it was Oliver who mentioned that it is also possible to reserve sporthallen by simply sending an email to Sporthallenverhuur (for their email address see here http://asp3.lvp.nl/amisweb/amsterdam/amis/amis.php?action=index ) and that you can then cancel up until (I think) 48 hours in advance. Not sure about this though

  • Koen S.

on MeetUp you can create and announce and determine the settings for the event

    March 1, 2012

  • Koen S.

It's typically a good idea (as I learned) to double check with (call) the sporthal where you reserved whether they have the reservation in their system

    March 1, 2012

  • Koen S.

Once you do and they approve you you can use this system to log in http://asp3.lvp.nl/amisweb/amsterdam/amis/amis.php?action=login&PHPSESSID=e41088872c8079d9b6db5d34328f64e8 and to see what sporthallen are available when and you can reserve them. After you reserve a sporthal you have 4 hours to cancel. After those 4 hours you can't cancel anymore. (they may make exceptions if you call them, not sure) They will send you a confirmation the next day.

here is the info you need to organize games:

about how to reserve games: you'll have to contact Dienst Maatschappelijke Ontwikkeling who arrange the rental of the sporthallen. register here http://asp3.lvp.nl/amisweb/amsterdam/amis/amis.php?action=newacc (create a user name and password) Then they will send you an email (usually the next day or so) asking you to send them (per email or fax) a copy of your passport and/or proof of registration.

I'm organizing games as well. If you want me to do it here it has to be tuesday or wednesday at 19.00 and prepaid via online banking, you can open an event with those conditions and if people support I can start organizing.

    March 1, 2012

  • Celso

I think i can convince 2 friends to play

    March 1, 2012

  • António

Hi Koen i will continue to organize the thursdays games when this is possible. Also another day during the week is a option.

    March 1, 2012

  • Dennis B.

Any reasons against making this information public here? This way everybody would know how to create new games and it should result in more games in future.
