The "HPC & GPU Supercomputing Group of New York" is holding a special meetup on "Mobile+GPU". GPUs (Graphical Processing Units) are no longer just for graphics and can be used to crunch numbers far quicker, and with less power, than regular processors. More and more phones come with quite powerful GPUs built in, and if you are not making use of their power, perhaps you should be!
Mobile devices represent a delicate balance between functionality and battery life. To deliver the rich interactive experience users now expect requires access to raw processing power, and to get the most out of battery life as much computation as possible must be squeezed out of every watt of power. GPUs delivery on both counts. This meetup explores the intersection between mobile devices and GPUs. Both where we are now and where we seem to be heading.
