Hey everyone a friend of mine is looking for a developer mercenary:

Seeking 1-2 kickass devs for high-paying, 7-wk, blitzkrieg [fast] product build!

- backend/large database experience

- social APIs and google analytics

 - payment gateway integration (most likely PayPal)

Full-time, well-paid.  Must be located in LA.  Office hours not required, but some in person sessions will be a must.  You must get a kick out of 1) entrepreneurial innovation or 2) making money.  Preferably both.  This is a short term 6-8 week contract.  Guessing it's better not to have a husband/wife/kids for this one - they may want to kill you.  Please be a reliable, drug-free, kind person with a nice streak of workaholicism.  For more information email [address removed], or call[masked]    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Also, there's a hackathon this weekend that could be of interest:

We would like to let you know about an AT&T Aspire Mobile App Hackathon Education that will be taking place this weekend in Santa Monica. The event is designed for attendees both technical & non-technical to build apps/mobile apps. The goal of this hackathon is to show participating students the great things they can innovate with a complete education AND for developers to help build apps that will disrupt education. We will have free food compliments of our sponsors, great speakers, and some awesome prizes. Developers, Designers, Teachers, and Students are heavily encouraged to meet new people, scout for teammates, and collaborate to create innovative mobile apps.

Objective C, Android, Java, ASM, Javascript, HTML, C #, Dot Net, XNA and all other languages are welcome. Your only objective is to get a mobile app running regardless of an HTML5, Mobile Web or native implementation. If you are a beginner or have become rusty with your programming, we will have live developer support including a free training session provided by Apigee on mobile app development during the hackathon. There will be 2 different sessions of 3 hours each: an introduction on how to build applications from scratch, using technologies like HTML5, PhoneGap and jQuery Mobile; and an advanced section on how to build social, local or game features into your app with a Backend-as-a-Service (BaaS). All training will be free, but advance registration is required. You can see full details and sign up for the training at: http://bit.ly/apptutor.
