Video kept cutting out, and very few people were there. Definitely didn't have the buzz that I'm sure Campus had. But the event organizer handled things as well as possible and it was appreciated. Will definitely try another Londroid meetup before I make up my mind.

So how do people claim released tickets?

      May 16, 2013

For the hackathon: Three Categories & prizes: Audience choice, New in Google Tech & Campus. Campus is really the theme.

    May 16, 2013

  • Aidan

Do you have further details about the Hackathon? I see that there's an award ceremony but I guess there has to be some presentations of the hacks...

    Thanks

i missed all the hackathon briefings yesterday. did anyone publish anything?

      May 16, 2013

Unfortunately I did't succeed to come yesterday. Is still possible to be admitted today? What time does it start?

    May 16, 2013

      May 16, 2013

Actually I think the doors open today at 5pm today and it's no longer at the rotary rooms as they can fit everyone into Campus, that's what it says in the description now.

      1 · May 16, 2013

  • Paolo M.

Just one question: I counldn't come yesterday, do I have do perform some checkin today in order to be admitted?

    May 16, 2013

    • Kevin

Yes, everyone will be checked on the door. Regardless if they were there yesterday.

      May 16, 2013

    • Paolo M.

Ok thanks Kevin! Is there any chance to still receive a welcome kit or is it lost?

Enjoyed the talk on compute engine, google cloud storage and google cloud sdk combo on appengine. That was a good talk.

    May 15, 2013

    • Tunji J.

Off course the guys presenting the demo was using php. I think that talk was very strategic for google as they were able to get the attention of a lot of php developers to their app engine platform as a potential web apps hosting infrastructure. Off course I would have prefer if the demo was in java.

    May 15, 2013

  • Fraser H.

Still can't believe I was one of the first to register for this and missed out on the campus tickets... Ah well see you all at rotary!

    3 · May 14, 2013

    • Kevin

That sucks Fraser but sadly we don't administrate Campus. We started a meetup just to gather the community before ever having access to Campus and later they required names & emails for security. Londroid emails are not accessible via meetup and so they started a new RSVP form. Nuisance but I wouldn't worry about it, numbers will eventually thin out at Campus and the Rotary rooms is a lovely venue.

      May 15, 2013

    • Jason A.

So does this mean that we can make our way to the Campus later in the evening if we have a Meetup ticket and there are spaces available?

    May 14, 2013

    • Kevin

Those still on the waiting list can take their chances and turn up around 8pm if they like but no one can guarantee access. We just don't know for certain what the numbers will look like later in the evening.

      May 15, 2013

    • Florian R.

Kevin, could you post a status update around 7 or 8pm on the number of no-shows and how many of the waitlisted you can admit?

      May 15, 2013

  • Dan L.

Will food be on offer at The Rotary ?!

    May 13, 2013

    • Shivam G.

Hi Dan, there is no free food on offer at the Rotary, however, there will be 25% off any food orders for attendees.

Too much work to do. Shame

    May 14, 2013

Is it enough to have the eventbrite app on our phones to show the tickets or do we still need to print them? Hope someone is able to help, thanks in advance.

    1 · May 14, 2013

    • Purav D.

Update: Francesca Dean (one of the organizers of I/O Extended), emailed me back saying that I should print out the ticket regardless.

      May 14, 2013

  • Iain

If anyone is still looking for rooms I have a contact that has some rooms available (wednesday and thursday) at the Radisson Blu Portman Hotel, London at a "very" reasonable rate of £179 per night...(normally £350) If your interested then contact [masked].

    May 14, 2013

  • Mark R.

Day job is getting in the way of I/O :-(

    May 14, 2013

  • Jonathon B.

Is there a rundown yet available of which of the available streams will be relayed? I understand an android bias given the kind hosts to this event, but there are other GDL members coming.

Is the same set of streams being relayed at Rotary as Campus? Obviously only those with a Campus pass have the luxury of swapping around, but it would be good to plan ahead at least a little. Not least Hog vs Obscure API discussion :D

Many thanks - and very excited.

    May 14, 2013

    • phillip i.

Not sure what they will be streaming at rotary, but if you would like a idea of what might be available at campus there is a google IO android app, it asks if you are going in person to IO or going to a google IO extended event and then shows the streams that will available.

      May 14, 2013

If anyone can't go at the last minute to this, please let me know!

    May 13, 2013

Sorry, I am getting a bit confused due to all the discussion lately. I have RSPVed for this event on 1st of May. I also have an order confirmation from Eventbrite. To which location I am supposed to go now? Rotary?

They're joining the pig on the hog roast :-)

      1 · May 13, 2013

  • Paul M.

I don't know about you guys but we (the developers of JuiceSSH) are pretty damn excited about I/O this year - and of course the prospect of free hog roast and beer! We wanted to offer something back to Skillsmatter and the Londroid community for the awesome event that's been put together (thanks Kevin!) and decided that free upgrades of our app to attendees would be a good way to do so.

If you haven't seen JuiceSSH already, it's a free SSH client exclusive to Android with an optional £3.99 in-app purchasable Pro pack that adds a load of functionality. We first released to the Play Store in December and are already building a great community/user base (currently about to hit 100k downloads with ~27k new users/month!).

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonelli.juicessh

If you use SSH frequently, I'm sure you'll appreciate some of the touches our client brings to the table. We're two fulltime sysadmins that have written this in our free time- and both use it everyday!

    5 · May 10, 2013

    • Paul M.

If you don't think we're treading on any toes by posting this and would like to snaffle the free upgrade, we'll be about sporting some suitably geeky JuiceSSH t-shirts (so you'll spot us a mile away!) - just come and say hello and we'll get you upgraded on the spot.

    May 10, 2013

    • phillip i.

Yeah I think that's right, mine is the same. Our names would be on some list I am sure on the day so they can confirm who's going.
