If you make a start on anything you like and keep it open source then we can always add / change any functionality as we go, as long as its not too ambitious! You could even give a talk on it when you are done. What would an official Londroid app do?

Oh yes, all Open Source, of course! Both NetMash client and server are, including any meetup.com API client code, and the Londroid-specifics (which will be basically a bunch of JSON).

Delighted to do a talk - on NetMash - any time!!

Official Londroid app functionality? Not sure.

NetMash Londroid app could be something like this:
  • List future and past meetups: title, description, date and time, location. from meetup.com API.
  • Plot location on map, plot date and time on calendar and/or phone calendar.
  • Sign up as attendee; see attendees.
  • On the day, watch attendees flocking to the event on the app's map, as long as their app is running and at the top.
  • See them commenting excitedly about the subject, maybe tied in to Twitter via #londroid.
  • After the event, watch them flock to the pub, so you're never left not knowing where it is.
That's v3 or thereabouts: v1 will be much simpler.  All depending on time, and how many people are interested in a new way of developing apps...  :-)

We could do DroidCon, too, if anyone's interested in that. Bit like the amazing Glasto app from FP, perhaps.

Oh - I'm off on holiday for two weeks 4th-18th Aug, so I'll go a bit quiet during that... :-)

Cheers!

Duncan

Hi Londroiders!

Anyone thinking of writing a Londroid app?

Around the Londroid meetings, for example. Could use the meetup.com API.

I had a thought that I could write one as an exercise in using my NetMash framework! :-)

An unofficial, prototype kind of thing; hopefully a fun exercise.

If you're interested in helping with that, reply here, or directly to me on [address removed] .

We could possibly meet up in my employer's office some evenings (that's ThoughtWorks UK in High Holborn).

Cheers!

Duncan
