Re: [londroid] ICS random reboots with MediaPlayer

I think, If it gets into the press it could be damaging (think iphone antennas). it wouldn't be good for anyone. ICS has been out for 5 or six months now. All seems pretty critical to me And since I haven't been able to find any reports on developer websites I do have to wonder if anyone is on it, searching for reboot on the android bugs list (http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/list).

Maybe I'm overreacting ... I have seen the elephant in the room get missed before though.

Great and I just ordered the Samsung Nexus. I remember when I first got my Nexus One it used to do the same thing.

I really hope they sort this soon.

Hi.

I am running ics on my nexus s. It also appears to randomly reboot and also doesn't seem to be media player (or even any particular app) related.

I am running version 4.0.3

I've had a number of random reboots on my 4.0.2 stock Galaxy Nexus. Had one today, happens every few days for no obvious reason - not media player related. Never had it in any prior version or phone. This constant beta status is wearing thin.

I've got a doozie of a bug that a user has found and I'm wondering if anyone has seen it.

When using the standard android mediaplayer object to play a file - the phone just reboots

There's quite a bit of chatter about it on forums but i haven't seen a trace on developer sites like stackoverflow - here are some links.

I've been testing it for 5 days now on the emulator (API levels 14&15) and I have had 3 reboots in that time - It definitely happens. Sometimes 10min in sometimes 2 days in. The OS just shuts down and reboots - no error, stacktrace or segfault as far as I can see. I havent seen it happen on the standard player or when files arent playing.

Has anyone else seen or heard of this? I am left with no choice but to remove the mediaplayer functionality from my app (mypod) for ICS . I havent seen it with other apps but the posts above show that it seems to be common to mediaplayer apps.

Any thoughts welcome...
