Greetings from New York.

I loved 'Le Road Trip' by Vivian Swift.
With watercolors by the author that are a perfect blend and dance with her written words.
Informative, whimsical , engaging, and both practical and uplifting.

Your theme of Vacations made me think of The Sheltering Sky which is not about a vacation but traveling.  The author Paul Bowles makes his distinction between tourists and travelers:

The tourist imagines he's going home one day.

The traveler knows when it's time to move on.  I'm not sure Paul Bowles said that.  Maybe i said that.

Hello book lovers,

We still don't have a book for July and I thought that as it might be our only summer meeting we could chose as a theme VACATIONS...

Personally, I would prefer that it would not be an "airport book" (a book you finish while you wait for your plane and through as soon as you are done with it...argggg).

So go on, if you have an idea for a good read-worthy book...please let me know by next Wednesday (12/6).

Cheers,

Ganit

' SUCCESS ' by Emerson.

To laugh often and much;
to win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
to earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better,
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch
or a redeemed social condition;
to know even one life has breathed easier
because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.
