Hello All!

This year’s Walk in Phoenix is an amazing opportunity for the Valley to top our aggressive goal of $10,000! Last year we not only met but surpassed our goal, and this year with your help I know we can have another record-breaking year! All funds raised directly support Farm Sanctuary’s commitment to end cruelty to farm animals and promote compassionate living through rescue, education, and advocacy.

For example, $10 feeds 3 chickens for 1 month, $15 provides life saving antibiotics for 1 sheep, $30 feeds 1 pig for 1 month, and $50 provides clean bedding for 2 cows for 1 month.  For anyone wishing to learn more about Farm Sanctuary, please check out their website.

YOU CAN REGISTER FOR SATURDAY'S WALK HERE.

This event is a PERFECT and FUN opportunity to make a direct difference by raising awareness and funds to help rescued farm animals who depend on your advocacy efforts... animals such as Julia.

We encourage you to read Julia's story of survival, triumph and perseverance.

One of Julie's babies... forever to live in peace thanks to Farm Sanctuary!

Let's get started helping rescue farm animals whose lives continue to depend on the generosity and compassion of the animal advocacy community!

WALK DETAILS

WHEN:

Saturday, October 27th.

  • Check-in begins at 9am.
  • The Walk will go from 10am to 11am.
  • There will be a celebration with complimentary snacks and a raffle with some awesome vegan themed prizes following the walk from 11am to 1pm:
  • Everyone is welcome to bring blankets, chairs, frisbees, etc., whatever you'd like, to enjoy at the celebration! There is a HUGE field at our disposal (please, no glass bottles).
  • Remember to bring cash for the raffle!  $2/ticket or $5 for 3 tickets. Prizes include gift certificates for local veg-friendly restaurants and other exciting vegan-themed prizes!

Note: Although some water will be available at the Walk, participants are encouraged to bring their own water bottles.

A BONUS! Dogs are welcome at this event!  Please keep in mind that there isn't much shade at the park (good thing for the positive turn in the weather); also please consider your dog's water needs.

FREE PARKING:

The main parking lots are on Culver Street, between 3rd Ave and Central Ave (also, there is free overflow parking off Culver Street between 5th Ave and 3rd Ave).

EARLY REGISTRATION:

Early registration for the walk is $15 ($5 for teens and free for children under 12).  Day of registration is $25, so I definitely recommend registering as soon as possible (this will also give you ample time to collect donations which can earn you all kinds of cool Farm Sanctuary-themed prizes!).

Mama Julia and her babies enjoying sunshine, playing in the water... loving life!

YOU CAN REGISTER FOR SATURDAY'S WALK HERE.

If unable to physically attend the Walk, you can still participate in the virtual walk titled "Sleep In for Farm Animals" (virtual walk registration here).  Virtual walkers are still eligible for prizes for donations earned!!  When signing up for this virtual walk, there will be an option to choose “Phoenix” as the city/team you would like to be affiliated with.

Please be sure to "like" the FACEBOOK PAGE.  Fundraising tips and encouragement will be offered weekly.

Thank you for your help in making the 2011 Walk for Farm Animals a record-breaking year.  Let's make 2012 another record-breaking year so even more animals can get the assistance they need.  We look forward to seeing you at this year's Walk!

Note: Meet us on the West side of Margaret T. Hance Park. Map here.

Best regards,

Hey everyone! So excited to see you all at the Walk. Out of curiosity, might anyone be commuting from Chandler? Someone has reached out to me about a ride, so just thought I'd check :).

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
