Animal Advocates of Arizona (AAAZ) Message Board › UPDATE: Volunteer to Gift Wrap to Help Homeless Cats!
UPDATE: All shifts have now been covered. Thank you to everyone that has committed to assist with this volunteer effort!
Members, please check your schedules to see about helping out this great cause. Contact Laura Whitman if you can help! Be sure to share this with friends and family that would be interested in putting in some fun volunteer time to help homeless cats!
I am organizing a fundraiser at the REI near the PV Mall (12634 N Paradise Village Pkwy Phoenix, AZ 85032) to raise funds for TNR (trap, neuter, return) of feral/free-roaming cats. We have been invited by the animal loving manager to gift wrap customer's purchases from Dec. 10 through the 17th. In the years past, the rescue who does this has done very well (a "cash cow" according to the manager). This will be our first year doing something like this, so we don't know what to expect.
This is a desperate attempt to gather volunteers for the day shifts during the week. Every night shift has been filled. The manager says that REI is a STRONG day store and we don't want to miss out on any monies that will go for spay/neuters! The organization putting on the event is Carla Jewell's "Foundation for Homeless Cats" which will ultimately funnel its donated monies to ADLA's spay/neuter hotline to pay for TNR!
We will have 2 tables set up by the front door to greet customers as they come in. Signage, donation can, wrapping paper, tape, bows, scissors, etc will be provided. REI has been saving boxes for us too. All we need is you and your talent (or someone you know) and if possible; change for bigger bills ($1's, $5's). We are able to keep our supplies there, so when you report for your "shift", just ask any staff member to show you where it is stashed.
If you or anyone you know, retired persons, stay-at-home parent, etc, can help out during the day hours, please contact me ASAP.
Thank you for your time!! :-)
