Thanks, LeeAnn.  This is a great angle; it wouldn't have occurred to me to research it that way.

Btw, I'm new to the group.  I'm not sure I should be as I didn't realize it was so vegetarian oriented.  I haven't made that commitment yet myself.  I am learning a lot from you all.  I am more focused on animal rescue, volunteering and working on homeless cat issues.  Thanks for letting me peek in here, and for everything that you all do for the animals.

Hello Everyone:

I believe that it is important for us to vote yes on the Indian Gaming Initiative Propositions.  If they pass it would mean that state programs and others would benefit 200 to 500 million dollars annually.  I typed in "to receive a grant from the Indian Gaming Initiative Revenues"  at Google.com and found 22,000 results from that source.  One of the grants asked for was by the Wisconsin Art Board whose 2003 fiscal year budget revealed that the sum received from the gaming initiatives alone totaled $25,200.  I think that if these props pass on Tuesday we can request grants for improving the humane societies whom up until now have accepted the idea that euthanasia is an appropriate solution to the problem of overcrowding.  Perhaps if we began the process of constructing new buildings or invested in building expansion to create enough room that 91 animal shelters would fill per state (statistics from the internet on humane societies) we could avoid the grand genocides occuring today to 50% of our homeless animals.  I also know that if a minimum wage employee could save twenty-dollars per week, in five years he or she would save $5,200... multiply this by 91 minimum wage employees (possible animal activists) and the result is $468,000........multiply this by per state and the result is....$......certainly enough to start in the direction of this process.    (statistics:  50% of animals are euthanized each year due to lack of space....there are approximately 91 humane societies per state already in existence.  This means that to eliminate the need for euthanasia it would mean that 91 more shelters would be needed..per state.......)
