Re: [animalrights-177] New Meeting: Show your Love for Animals for Valentine's Week - Outreach on 3rd St. Promenade

Is there any way for me to get petitions, and if I gather signatures on my own time, where do I turn them in?

I noticed on the humanecalifornia.org website a form to fill out with my name and address--will they mail them to me?

Thanks,
Rania

Announcing a new meeting for United Animal Advocates of LA!

What: Show your Love for Animals for Valentine's Week - Outreach on 3rd St. Promenade

When: Friday, February 15, 8:00 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Who should come: Leafletters and signature gatherers!

Why: Hang out with like-minded folks and educate the public about animal suffering they know nothing about!

Meeting Description: Hey everyone,

Leafletting with Vegan Outreach literature is a fun, productive way to raise awareness and plant seeds (pun _intended_) for people to change their diets. Check out www.veganoutreach.org for more info on the wonderful work that activists are doing to inform people all over the U.S. and abroad about the plight of farmed animals. We are their voice and each of us counts because there are many fewer of us than them (approximately 3-5 million vegans in the U.S., and over 10 billion farmed animals who meet their end in the U.S. each year).

While leafletting can be a little unnerving at first, with practice it becomes second nature. Try out different opening lines and see what works for you (see the post on the message board on leafletting tips). Remember to try and stay positive!!

Now that the campaign to get a ballot initiative to ban veal crates, gestation crates, and battery cages in California has only 2 weeks left, this will also serve as the last opportunity for gathering signatures from the public to get the initiative on the November 2008 ballot while simultaneously having the video outreach.

***MORE VOLUNTEERS TO GATHER SIGNATURES FOR THIS CAMPAIGN ARE URGENTLY NEEDED IN ORDER TO OBTAIN THE NUMBER OF SIGNATURES NECESSARY TO MAKE THE BALLOT. LESS THAN 2 WEEKS LEFT!!! THEY'VE ALREADY HAD TO START HIRING PAID SIGNATURE GATHERERS, BUT VOLUNTEERS ARE STILL URGENTLY NEEDED. PLEASE DO WHAT YOU CAN TO HELP WITH THIS IMPORTANT TIME-SENSITIVE INITIATIVE!!!***
For info on how to become A VOLUNTEER SIGNATURE GATHERER with this effort, please visit www.humanecalifornia.org.

***Please RSVP to show your involvement in the group.*** Thanks a bunch!!

Cheers,
Armaiti :)
