Hi fellow activists!
I'm glad many of you had the opportunity to attend this year's Animal Rights conference in LA (www.arconference.org). There were about 800 people in attendance, not counting the many visitors who checked out the exhibits on the weekend. As usual, it was amazing to be around so many dedicated animal rights activists, network with people, give talks, and hear the other speeches. Even though I've been going to these conferences for years now (my first AR conference was AR2001), I find that I still learn new things at each one I go to. I was a bit worn out by the end of the 5 days, which is also typical of these conferences.
For those who may be interested, here is a video of the speech I gave on Paths to Animal Liberation at the plenary on 07/20/07 at the AR conference this year:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khSrNc04h4g
Also, thanks to Chris Locke, we now have profile questions for you to answer. Please take a few minutes to update your AR meetup profile so we can all get to know one another better! You'll notice one of the questions asks for your input on future activities.
Please also check out the many useful links provided under the "About Us" link on the main page for the group http://animalrights.meetup.com/177/
Last but not least, I hope to see many of you participating at this year's Walk for the Country Critters, a fundraiser for Animal Acres to help pay for veterinary costs. It's this Saturday, July 28th, 12 noon to 4 pm. Please check out the link below for info and to RSVP.Animal Acres: Walk for the Critters?
