Re: Michael Vick's apology

Hi all,

Of course what Vick did was reprehensible.  We all know that.  Arnold may be right that part of his motivation for apologizing was for his own self-interest.  But at least he did apologize and claimed he wants to redeem himself.  If he is sincere, I see potential for good to come out of the tragedy he helped create.  By contrast, Jennifer Lopez, another multi-millionaire celebrity, shamelessly wears the furs of brutally murdered animals and designs her fashions to include those furs.  She has been sent footage and info from PETA about the brutality she supports, but still refuses to budge or show the slightest remorse for her actions.  I would say she truly has a heart of stone.  Obviously what Vick did was awful, and I am by no means excusing his behavior.  Dogfighting is barbaric.  For him to make a 180 and come out with an apology like that suggests to me he at least has some good intentions.  Maybe he won't become a vegan, but I'm hopeful he'll influence a lot of young inner city youth who've idolized him to turn their backs on dogfighting.

Remember there are leaders in the animal rights movement (Steve Hindi - former hunter, Howard Lyman - former feedlot operator, Harold Brown - former farmer, and the list goes on) who used to be intimately involved in animal exploitation.  They are now outspoken advocates for the animals and making a difference in such a huge way, even more so BECAUSE they used to come from the opposite viewpoint.  So I would urge people not to give up hope on an individual just because of his/her past misdeeds.

Peace,
Armaiti

Hi all,

Even though most(if not all) of you probably don't know me I thought I would give my thoughts.
Obviously we all agree that what Vick did was reprehensible. He not only participated in and promoted
dog fighting but he brutally slaughtered innocent living beings. For him to apologize
for this sickens me. He admitted his guilt only after he knew he was going to fry
and wanted to cut a deal. He is apologizing only because he got caught. His
press conference gave him a forum to lessen the nightmare of his future. There
is no way, only months after he stopped, that he could truly be sorry for acts he has committed for years.
He is sorry what it has brought to his life after being caught, but how can he suddenly have compassion where none
previously existed. He brutally, inhumanely, committed MURDER. He said he is going to put
his life in Jesus' hands. Give me a break. What if he murdered people? Meanwhile he barely even addressed his crimes.
He apologized to the children and others. How about an apology to the dogs that he forced
into brutal battles? How about showing sadness for the dogs he brutally murdered?
Truly I am a forgiving person but this man makes me sick. It's not like he was desperate to feed his family. Not that would
make it acceptable. Let this disgusting human being do some good for years and help make the world a better
place and then we can talk about his apology.

Peace,

Arnold

Hello everyone,

I got a message from someone looking for people interested in participating in a documentary promoting animal rights. They're looking for folks who are available from Sept. 17 - Oct. 17 for shooting the film. To learn more about this opportunity and get involved, email [address removed].

The animals could use another great documentary, dontcha think?

Armaiti :)
