Hello My Friends,
Please read the disturbing email below regarding how our illustrious
assembly passed the kangaroo bill, and then send a message to Gov.
Schwarzenegger to let him know that we REALLY want him to veto this heinous
How did it get past the assembly? How could they? People's willingness
to put profit over compassion never ceases to amaze me.
Thanks for helping out :)

>Kangaroo-Killing Bill Passes Assembly: Goes to Gov's Desk
>In past alerts, IDA has asked our California members to take
>action against SB880
>a bill that would overturn a ban on the sale of products made
>from kangaroo skin that has protected these animals since 1970.
>Thank you to everyone who has contacted or visited their state
>legislators. Unfortunately, it seems some of them are still not
>getting the message that SB880 is a bad idea, because the
>California Assembly passed the bill earlier this week.
>The 44 Assemblymembers who voted Yes on SB880 need to know their
>constituents are deeply disappointed that they chose to support
>manipulative businesses which have been breaking the law over
>protecting kangaroos in their native habitat. With all the
>effort animal advocates have devoted to informing legislators
>about this issue, those who voted to approve SB880 have no
>excuse for supporting cruelty instead of compassion in this
>clear-cut case of blood for profit.
>What You Can Do:
>1) This fight is not over yet: Governor Schwarzenegger can still
>save the kangaroos by vetoing SB880. Please give his office a
>quick call at (916)[masked] or email [address removed]
>to politely urge him to do the right thing.
>2) Find out who your Assemblymember is
>(http://www.leginf...), then check below to
>see how he or she voted on SB880. If your Assemblymember voted
>Yes, call or write to tell them that you are disappointed -- and
>remember to be polite, even if you're upset about the way they
>voted. The point is not to chastise these individuals, but to
>let them know that animal welfare issues are important to
>voters, and that they should consider whether their values are
>truly representing the people.
>3) If your Assemblymember voted No on SB880, please thank them
>for trying to protect the kangaroos from greedy corporations.
