I must say, I really don't understand Lindsy's point of view.....not in the United States, not in the year 2007.
Farm Sanctuary needs and asks for money in order to exist.
Any nonprofit needs and asks for money in order to exist.
MooShoes needs money and asks for money in exchange for a product in order to exist.
Any Vegan company needs and asks for money in exchange for a product in order to exist.
Native Foods needs money and asks money in exchange for Vegan food in order to exist.
Any Vegan/Vegetarian restaurant needs and asks for money in order to exist and grow.
I am in the habit of donating to as many animal organizations as I can, frequenting as many vegan/vegetarian restaurants as possible and purchasing only vegan items. Where I come from, I pay with money.
I feel very happy that these companies exist. They are making a positive difference in the lives of animals and people because they are exactly what they claim to be.......Businesses. I wish them very well! I hope that they make tons of money this year, and double it next year!
I choose not to be homeless, or be a beggar. I choose to not only help myself, but help others, human and animal alike whenever my help is needed, with my time, energy, spirit and my money.
Money, words, and hammers are tools, just like any other tools. You can build a wonderful and beautiful building with a hammer, or you can hit someone over the head with it and take away their life. You can write something negative or positive and either nurture or break a spirit.
Growing financially is as important as growing spiritually. But, one doesn't have to. No one is going to make them.
I agree with Armaiti, MooShoes, Native Foods, Animal Acres, Farm Sanctuary, any and all businesses, (yes, non-profits are businesses), and the basic principle of education. I agree to grow, mature, be open to learning all that I can in my short life and positively impact those around me.......should they want to be positively impacted. For those who don't, I won't stand in their way.
But, I just ask that they take a step back and get out of mine. My growth, education and financial success is important because I add value to animal and other people's lives.
Thank you Armaiti for having this venue where people can come together and leaflet, network, share and grow. Thank you Armaiti for presenting this and all educational opportunities! Thank you Armaiti for being you! Thank you for taking the initiative and action and responsibility to be a Meetup organizer. And Thank You For Paying The $150.00 Out Of Your Pocket To Do So For Everyone's Benefit!
