Who should come: Anyone who wants to help animals by raising awareness about their plight in factory farms. Anyone who wants to help get the initiative to ban veal crates, gestation crates, & battery cages on the Nov. 2008 ballot! Check out www.humanecalifornia.org

Why: Meet other animal rights advocates and learn how to be an effective spokesperson for the animals! We must be their voice - they cannot speak up for themselves!!

Event Description: Dear folks,

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!! Please join me in resolving to make 2008 the best year possible for animals!!

The next opportunity to leaflet on the Santa Monica Promenade with simultaneous video projection going on is Saturday, Jan 5th from 8-10 pm. The outreach (leafletting and showing of "Meet Your Meat" and "Earthlings") will take place on the Third Street Promenade between Broadway and Santa Monica Blvd. L ook for Aouie with his projector screen and AV equipment. If you are new to leafletting and/or apprehensive about it (which is common but the nervousness fades with practice), please email me for tips or look at the lealetting tips from previous posts. Remember this is a "Friendly Interactions Only" type of event, meaning everyone is expected to be friendly and respectful - including to occasional hecklers passing by. This type of outreach is something anyone can do and has a tremendous positive impact for the animals by raising awareness.

Now that the campaign to get a ballot initiative to ban veal crates, gestation crates, and battery cages in California is upon us, this will also serve as an opportunity for gathering signatures from the public to get the initiative on the November 2008 ballot during the outreach.

********MORE VOLUNTEERS TO GATHER SIGNATURES FOR THIS CAMPAIGN ARE URGENTLY NEEDED IN ORDER TO OBTAIN THE NUMBER OF SIGNATURES NECESSARY TO MAKE THE BALLOT. ONLY 8 WEEKS LEFT!!! THEY'VE ALREADY HAD TO START HIRING PAID SIGNATURE GATHERERS, BUT VOLUNTEERS ARE STILL NEEDED.******
For info on how to become A VOLUNTEER SIGNATURE GATHERER with this effort, please visit www.humanecalifornia.org.

We're lagging behind on the number of signatures required to make the November 2008 ballot. We need more people to help gather signatures!! If you've gotten your petitions and info packet, please come on out with your signs, blue or black pens, clipboards, and petitions in hand. The passersby on the Promenade are waiting to sign those petitions! For info on how to become involved with this effort, please visit www.humanecalifornia.org.

***Please RSVP to show your involvement in the group.*** Thanks a bunch!!

Armaiti :)
