Peaceful Protest Against Animal Testing at Ricerca in Concord Township

Animal experimentation is a scandal that has been hidden from the American public. We have been lead to believe that the animals used in experiments are well treated and that the procedures performed on these animals are thoroughly regulated and governed by federal laws. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Over 90% of the animals used in experimentation are purposely excluded from protection under the Animal Welfare Act (AWA—the only federal law that governs animal experimentation). Rats, mice, birds, and many other species have been expressly eliminated from all safeguards.

The AWA places no real restrictions on what can be done to an animal during an experiment. Animals are routinely subjected to addictive drugs, electric shock, food & water deprivation, isolation, severe confinement, caustic chemicals, burning, blinding, chemical and biological weapons, radiation, etc. The "scientist" in question only has to say that a specific procedure is "necessary" for the experiment, and it is allowed. The goal is not to protect the animal; the goal is to insure that the experiment proceeds—at any cost.'

Dear Animal Advocates,

Every year millions of animals are maliciously tortured and killed in laboratories for reasons unjustified in today's modern world. Their deaths must not pass unnoticed and unmentioned! Please join us on Sunday, in a peaceful demo at the corner of Auburn Road and Crile Road, Painesville, Ohio from 11:00am to 12:30pm. (The address for the Waffle House to find the location on your GPS is: 7505 Crile Road, Concord, OH 44077)

We will set this day aside to remember their deaths and resolve to take meaningful action on behalf of ALL of the animals still imprisoned in Ricerca Biosciences and laboratories across the U.S. and around the world.

We welcome everyone to also join us in a demonstration that will be held following this rally at the Lerner Research Institute
a facility notorious for cruel and archaic vivisection—located at the corner of E. 100th Street and Carnegie Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio.  We will demonstrate there from 2:00pm  to 3:30pm.

In solidarity,

Ellie Israel

This is my first animal rights protest-where should I meet up with the group? What about signs? Do we make them there?

Hi Barb and welcome to the peaceful protest. There are plenty of great signs for you to chose from that Susan and Ellie have made. However, feel free to make one and bring it with you. You will see everyone in the parking lot of the Waffle House, parked way in the back, (address in the meetup message), unless everyone is already out by the street. This group cannot be missed! It is not in front of Ricerca itself, as there is no where to stand safely.
