Join in for a Peaceful Protest against the Ringling Brothers at The Q arena

  • Oct 26, 2014 · 6:00 PM
  • Outside of the Quicken Loans Arena

Sunday, October 25th: 6pm to 9pm: Join in with a number of organizers for a Peaceful Protest against the Ringling Brothers Circus at the Quicken Loans Arena, One Center Court, Cleveland, OH[masked], corner of Huron and Ontario Street.  Parking in local garages (for a fee) or along the street (if you can locate a free area).  Try to car pool if possible.

Ringling Brothers has a reputation to being a perpetrator of heinous abuse to their animals for many years, both in captivity, in traveling and in their training for all performances.  There is no safe place for any animal in the circus.  Let's be their voices and come out in large numbers to stop this from happening anywhere across the USA and the World.

We have found to it be successful when we are there one hour before the show starts and are there for when the show ends, so the audience sees our signs coming and going).

We are allowed to stand along the sidewalk out in front of the Q. Do not block the pedestrians crossing the street or block the people from being dropped off by buses. There is an 'invisible line' in which we are allowed to stand. The police do monitor us very carefully and the police are there and visible to keep us safe.

We will have handouts to pass out.

Signs will be provided or please feel free to make your own. All of your messages of are great importance!

Demonstration will happen rain or shine! The animals thank you! LET's make ALL circuses free of all animals other than just pure human animals (and they have a choice to join the circus or not)!

As further details emerge, continued updates and edits to this site will continuously occur.  There will be Facebook pages, (created by savvy Facebook Circus peaceful protesters), as well for everyone to sign up and join. When the Facebook pages are created,  posts to the links will be provided for all of you. Check the Meetup site for details of each of the Peaceful Protests and add your comments as well. Updated information will be added as needed and announced.  Thank you from all the Circus Animals everywhere!

Sandie, yes this is exactly why we need to push harder. I have been working toward a safe more respected world for animals since 1961. Something is very wrong that our politicians keep stalling, avoiding and otherwise just ignoring. We NEED to get to higher ups as well as peaceful protests and other vehicles for change. I will not give up untilI see a more peaceful world for all my furry and unfurry friends:)

That is very impressive Joyce. Standing up for all animals since 1961, is a long time. 53 years to be the voice for all animals! You must have been very young and a very advanced soul. I am certain you've seen some improvement, but in other ways, it's got to be painfully slow for you to see such little results.

Please tell me how long you have been protesting against Ringling Bros Circus? What has been accomplished thus far?

Joyce, there have been many people protesting the Ringling Circus across the country for years. There is no way of telling what has been accomplished so far. The truth is that more and more people are joining in to be the voices for all the circus animals and are growing visibly in numbers. That is very affective. There are many countries that have banned the use of circus animals such as the UK. Last year while protesting the Kelly Miller Circuses, a Kelly Miller circus employee told me that even New York has banned being close to a circus animal to touch it, let alone ride it, therefore the circuses cannot stop in New York. http://www.onegreenpl...

Thanks for the explanation Sandie. My bad for not reading things thoroughly. :(

Carolyn, I too, have received an entire row of the same e-mail messages too many times, only to have to delete all but one! This time, it was intentional. I am amazed at the amount of people already posting their dates and times that they are planning on attending. I am looking forward to seeing you there, too. I plan on attending all of them. In between the shows, we head over to the Flaming Ice Cube, The Noodle Cat, or one of the other Vegan Friendly restaurants. Any suggestions? Please let us know!

I am wondering why I am receiving 10 emails with the exact same message???

Linda and Carolyn, each e-mail has a different date and time but they do have the same message. You are right about that. As I posted each date and time, I did send it out as an announcement so yes, you had received all 9 of them within a short time this morning as I posted them. That way anyone who wants to put it up in advance on their calendars they can. Linda you got an extra one, as I listed you as an organizer and I wrote a message to you letting you know so you received an extra one! I could have not sent out any of the posts and the invitation wouldn't have gone out until the meetup site automatically sends them out a few days before the actual event, so you wouldn't have seen the dates and the event until about October the 20th for the first event happening on the 22nd.

Linda, you can adjust your e-mails settings on the meetup site on your account settings.
